An integrated development approach, layered with psychosocial skills and support systems can enable adolescents, young persons, and the adult and elderly vulnerable groups to cultivate the skills to make informed decisions about their lives, exercise their rights and subsequently become agents of change. Integrating aspects of psychosocial wellbeing and inclusion in education, life skills, vocational training, sexual and reproductive health, work and employment, housing etc can offer opportunities to develop skills for taking care of oneself, enabling participation, choice, autonomy, decision making, agency and control.
Collaborating with diverse vulnerable groups and the larger community from a mental health lens informed by an inclusive approach paves way for a holistic menu of development based support actions.
To support NGOs and CBOs to feel confident in integrating a basic psychosocial (mental health) component within their broader development program, Bapu announces its “Providing Psychosocial Support – Capacity Building Program”.
The program will largely look at addressing individual and family needs; and engaging with simple individual, relational and community interventions to move towards wellness; using existing development programs and pathways.
The course has an application and skill based thrust and is designed for community based development organizations, family organizations, groups and individuals working with any vulnerable population.
The course is conducted in English/Hindi/Marathi as Online/Offline/Hybrid contact sessions.
Our training modules have been developed through intense engagement in direct service delivery over last 20 years. Training courses under the flagship of Bapu group are culturally appropriate for low income constituencies, and are based on regional/local socio-cultural practices. We encourage the use of integrated and traditional arts for promoting positive health care practices and good mental health.
Our capacity building initiatives are aimed at empowering the grassroots, enabling community based organizations and groups to maximize their impact on the ground on vital issues relevant to the disability- development sector.
